Great Tit on a Paulownia Branch – Ohara Koson Framed Poster
Great Tit on a Paulownia Branch – Ohara Koson Framed Poster
A great tit perched on a paulownia branch, one of the many small, precise nature studies Koson produced during the height of the shin-hanga print revival in the 1920s and 1930s. The paulownia tree carried its own symbolic weight in Japan, associated with nobility and used in family and imperial crests, which likely wasn't lost on Koson when he chose the pairing.
