Shinobazu Pond on a Misty Evening – Kasamatsu Shiro Framed Poster
Shinobazu Pond on a Misty Evening – Kasamatsu Shiro Framed Poster
Kasamatsu Shiro was one of the shin-hanga movement's key landscape artists, working with publisher Watanabe Shōzaburō from the 1910s onward. This 1932 print shows Shinobazu Pond in Tokyo's Ueno district at dusk, the kind of soft, atmospheric lighting Kasamatsu built his reputation on. Where earlier ukiyo-e landscapes favored bold outlines, shin-hanga artists like him leaned into mood and gradation instead.
