After a Visit to the Bathhouse – Kotondo Torii Framed Poster
Kotondo Torii made this print in 1933, near the peak of his short but influential run as a bijin-ga artist, known for prints of women in everyday, unguarded moments rather than idealized poses. He came from a family of kabuki theater artists and would later take over as head of the Torii school himself, shifting his own focus away from prints and toward stage design. This piece captures exactly the kind of quiet, private scene that made his prints stand out.
